July 20, 2007
Japan's NTT DoCoMo announced on July 13 that it will collaborate with Korean KTF on developing a USB-interfacing HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) data terminal for PC. The project will be carried out by the Business and Technology Cooperation Committee established by the two telecoms in December 2005 to facilitate joint purchasing. Codenamed FOMA A2502 HIGH-SPEED, the PC data terminal is scheduled to hit the market in the third quarter of 2007 at the earliest. For HSDPA service areas in Japan, a downlink speed of up to 3.6Mbps is projected, while 3G roaming will be made available outside Japan.
